Store owner shoots at robbers

The 99 Store on Liberty Street in Lowell Aram Boghosian / The Boston Globe

It was a quiet night like any other at The 99 Store in Lowell, when two men jumped over the counter and attacked the store owner, grabbing fistfuls of cash from the register, The Boston Globe reports.

But as the two hooded individuals were leaving, owner Kimseng Seng pulled a pistol from his pocket, firing twice at the fleeing robbers.

Video surveillance shows the incident inside the store, and Seng following the burglars into the street and shooting. He hit neither of them, and the pair got away with nearly $10,000, the Globe reports.
