Is the Lawn on D doomed?

Jessica Rinaldi / The Boston Globe

The Lawn on D may need to be cut.

The hip outdoor hangout in the Seaport District has become wildly popular, but state convention center officials are saying they may not be able to keep it open in its current form, The Boston Globereports.

According to the Globe, the lawn began with a budget of $2.2 million for this year, but the convention center now expects to earn just about $300,000 back.

The Globe reports around 135,000 people have visited the park this year. The convention center makes money from food trucks, renting the entire space, and concessions tent sales.

The end of the lawn would mean no more big bunnies, no more glowing swings, and one less reason to spend time in the Seaport District.
