Ex-Uber driver, already facing charges, accused of sexual assaults dating back to 2006
Late last year, a then-Uber driver was arrested after officials said he kidnapped and sexually assaulted a passenger.
On Tuesday, authorities accused the same man of a history of sexual assault in Boston that stretched back much further, The Boston Globe reports.
Officials said in December that Alejandro Done picked a Cambridge woman up on December 6, brought her to a secluded location, and sexually assaulted her in the back seat of his car. Charges against Done included rape, kidnapping, and assault and battery.
Uber connects drivers to users through its smartphone app. Done worked as a driver for the ride-hailing company but had not connected with the woman through the system, the company said at the time.
Authorities on Tuesday said DNA evidence connected Done to a series of sexual assaults that occurred well before his time at Uber. The alleged assaults occurred in South Boston and along the Charles River Esplanade between 2006 and 2010.
