Whether you deem it hip or square, Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s administration continues its push to make City Hall Plaza a hoppin’ hangout. The Boston Globe reported that the next plan in the lineup is to roll out a 40-foot-by-40-foot patch of AstroTurf next week.

“The mayor really wanted to enliven City Hall Plaza,’’ Walsh’s chief of staff, Daniel Koh, told the Globe. “We hope to get some lawn games going.’’

The new greenery will complement more than 40 lounge chairs dispersed throughout the plaza. Potted plants and umbrellas are other ideas being tossed around. So the vibe will be either a relaxing tropical park or your nana’s lawn.
