Good morning, Boston! The World Cup is ours, science explains how to enjoy your vacation the most, and the rest of today’s news.

Science says to tell your coworkers all about how great your weekend vacation was: “A lot of past research has suggested that experiences in general provide more happiness than material goods. That’s partly because — excited new owners of the latest iPhone who won’t shut up notwithstanding, humans generally have more of a tendency to talk about experiences than mere stuff. ‘When one buys an experience, they seem to be buying themselves a story as well,’ said Dr. Amit Kumar, a social psychologist and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business who studies the relationship between money and happiness. ‘So one way vacations continue to provide hedonic benefits even after they’ve long since passed is because they live on in the stories we tell.’’’ (New York)

Ready for Hillary (press conferences): “Hillary Clinton has decided to make herself more available to the media and will begin doing national television interviews in the next week. … [A] consensus has formed around the notion that allowing more routine access will drain the drama from each encounter. ‘The more media interviews you do, the less any one interaction matters,’ [the Clinton campaign’s communications director] says.’’ (Fox News)

Burt of Burt’s Bees fame has passed away: “Burt Shavitz, the Maine beekeeper who co-founded the Burt’s Bees natural cosmetics company and lent it his name and likeness, has died. He was 80. … ‘Burt was a complex man who sought a simple life in pace with the seasons of nature on his land,’ the company said. ‘If there is one thing we will remember from Burt’s life, in our fast-paced, hi-tech culture, it’s to never lose sight of our relationship with nature.’’’ (USA Today)
