Police subdue naked, knife-wielding man (NSFW video)

Police officers often complain that people don’t videotape them when they do something right. But two Boston Police officers seemed to do the right thing in a YouTube video published on Wednesday.

The video starts with a man taking his clothes off in the middle of a busy street before lying on the ground and waving a knife.

Two officers arrive, one with his gun drawn, and approach the man, who then tosses the knife away. One officer then pepper sprays the man while the other holsters his gun. At that point, the officers switch to batons and order the man to lay face down on the ground. He complies and the officers handcuff him.

The name of the man in yesterday’s video will not be released.

“That was a medical issue,’’ Boston Police Officer Rachel McGuire said Tuesday.

The incident came two weeks after Boston Police and FBI agents shot and killed a man who was armed with a large, military-style knife in a Roslindale CVS parking lot. In that case Boston police shared video of the incident with community and religious leaders before eventually making the clip public.
