Wanna talk to Tom Brady? That’ll cost you $170K

Hosting Tom Brady at a public event in the hours following Deflategate costs a pretty penny.

The Patriots quarterback’s talk last month at Salem State cost the university’s nonprofit foundation $170,000, according to The Boston Globe. The event was Brady’s first public appearance after an independent NFL investigation concluded it was “more probable than not’’ he knew about Patriots employees deflating game balls.

Salem State University Foundation announced Brady’s price tag on Tuesday following a third request for the information, according to the Globe report. University officials told The Globe the funding for the event came entirely from ticket sales and sponsorships rather than from public money.

NFL investigator Ted Wells released the Deflategate report just 30 hours before Brady took the stage in Salem after flying there in a helicopter.

The university’s nonprofit foundation has garnered $20 million in the past 5 years and is a source of scholarships for students. The school’s in-state tuition is currently around $9,000 without room and board included.
