Boston will be the featured city on Snapchat this Friday
Get ready for your closeup.
The world’s eyes will be on Boston this Friday – well, at least for a few seconds.
As part of its regular “Story’’ feature, Snapchat will pick out photos and videos from Boston users and post them in one spot on the app for all worldwide users to see. And then, 24 hours later, they will all disappear. The idea is to give the app’s nearly 100 million daily users a look at what the real Boston looks like, Dunkin iced coffee and Green Line struggles all.
“We’ve been highlighting different cities from around the world for awhile now,’’ Snapchat spokesperson Mary Ritti told Boston.com. “Boston is one of the oldest cities in the US, and we think it is fun to have Snapchatters share what a day in the city of Boston feels like with the world.’’
Boston last got prime treatment on Snapchat during the Boston Marathon two months ago. That collection of images, which has since been lost to the cloud, included runners petting dogs, smiling crowds, and other scenes from the rainy day.
