45 years of Boston Pride in pictures

See the history of this LGBT celebration since it started in 1971.

Saturday marks the 45th Boston Pride Parade. The event has come a long way from 1971, when about 300 people marched through the city to read political demands in front of the Boston Police Station and the state house.

Now, thousands of marchers participate every year, with hundreds of thousands of spectators. June 5 was the start of Boston Pride week, which featured 230 groups and 50 events over 10 days. See some highlights of how this celebration has grown over the past 45 years.
