Watch ESPN’s short doc on marathon bombing survivor Rebekah Gregory

Warning: The video includes brief, but graphic, scenes from the bombing.

The Boston Globe

By now, we all know the inspiring story of Rebekah Gregory, the Texas mother and Boston Marathon bombing survivor who made the difficult decision last November to amputate her left leg below the knee.

Two weeks after her amputation, Gregory made plans to run the 2015 Boston Marathon — ESPN was there to capture her journey.

The above SportsCenter feature aired on Mother’s Day. Gregory and her son Noah were only three feet from the site of the first blast. While her son sustained only minor physical injuries, Gregory underwent 17 surgeries and an additional 50 surgical procedures.

After consulting with her doctors, Gregory was given special permission to run the last three miles of the 2015 marathon with her trainer, who is also an amputee.

“I took my life back today,’’ she told reporters at the finish line.
