The Boston police force is much whiter than the community it serves.

PRI crunched the numbers on 50 police departments, including Boston.

Police in Boston are 77 percent white, compared to 48 percent of city residents. Black officers make up 12 percent of the force, and 23 percent of the city overall. Hispanics are even less represented — 6 percent of the force and 17 percent of the city.

The Boston Herald had their own report on hub diversity on Monday showing slightly higher numbers of miniority officers.
