Handsome Stranger’s Wife Reacts to ‘Hilarious’ Boston Marathon Kiss Pic

The kiss heard ‘round the world.

Barbara Tatge’s daughter Paige made her a dare: Find a handsome stranger along the Boston Marathon route, kiss him, and take a picture of it.

As the photo shows, Tatge completed the dare. She was running her first Boston Marathon.

So was the handsome stranger’s wife. (But don’t worry, she has a good sense of humor.)

After Paige took to social media in an attempt to track down Prince Charming, the story was picked up by several media outlets, including The Wellesley Townsman. It subsequently went viral, prompting the man’s wife to write a letter to Tatge, which was published in the paper.

Calling the situation “hilarious,’’ she wrote, “For me, I’m not mad. Believe me, our friends have gotten a lot of mileage out of this story and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them give my husband grief!’’

Tatge said she has been touched by the outpouring of support from strangers who wished for a “fairytale ending,’’ but said she would like the story to die down.

“In all sincerity,’’ she told the Townsman, “I apologize if the media firestorm has caused him any discomfort.’’

The couple has decided to remain anonymous.

Tatge, a cancer survivor from Tennessee, wants to run Boston again, telling the Townsman that she plans to try to qualify for the 2017 race.

But next time, “I won’t be kissing random strangers along the route,’’ she said.
