Teacher of the Year Award Nominee Arraigned on Drug Charges

A Haverhill Teacher of the Year nominee was arraigned Friday on drug charges, The Boston Globe reports.

Fourth-grade teacher Amanda Roche, 27, has been charged with possession with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and possession. The drugs in question were cocaine and clonazepam, authorities said.

A plea of not guilty was entered on her behalf. The Pentucket Lake Elementary teacher, nominated for the school’s Teacher of the Year award last year, was released on cash bail of $500, pending successful drug and alcohol screenings.
