Man Allegedly Exposes Self to One Woman, Attacks Another

Anthony Samuel, 25, is accused of exposing himself to a woman at the Ruggles MBTA station and then attacking a passenger on a train at the Chinatown stop. MBTA Transit Police

A man who randomly attacked a 63-year-old woman on an MBTA subway Thursday was arrested and charged with assault and battery on an elderly person, MBTA Transit Police said.

Witnesses reportedly restrained Anthony Samuel, 25, of Dorchester, until officers arrived at the inbound platform at Chinatown Station. Police said Samuel “suddenly and without provocation’’ repeatedly struck the victim with a closed fist.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for head and chest pain.

After Samuel was taken into custody, another female passenger told officers he exposed his genitals to her about 15 minutes earlier at the Ruggles MBTA station, police said. He now faces an additional charge of open and gross lewdness.
