Gov. Charlie Baker Shaves His Head for Cancer Research (Video)
Governor Charlie Baker got a haircut Tuesday morning as part of a charity event that is giving $3.2 million to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Though Baker first announced his plans for a buzzcut on April 1, he assured everyone that it wasn’t a prank—he would really be joining 500 employees of Quincy-based Granite Telecommunications in shaving their heads to raise money for cancer research.
Today, he followed through on his word:

Baker thanked everyone there, but singled out Edward Benz, Jr., MD, who is stepping down next summer as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute after 16 years.
“You’ve been a true leader there… at a very important organization that has done wonderful things for families… You’ve left a wonderful legacy,’’ said Baker.
The event, Saving By Shaving II, was also supported by Panera Bread, Starbucks, and Stop & Shop.
