DCF Survey Reveals Poor Working Conditions, Low Employee Morale
A survey of more than 1,500 employees of the state’s Department of Children and Families found an overload of cases, substandard working conditions, and sinking morale, according to a Boston Globe report.
The confidential survey was commissioned by the Legislature and released Tuesday. Among the findings, one worker described seeing cockroaches in a Leominster DCF office on the same floor babies crawl on during supervised parental visits. Morale in the workforce was found to be “much worse’’ in December of 2014 than in the previous year.
