Could Boston Teach English Better?
Councillor Tito Jackson announced on Wednesday that the city will hold a hearing to review English Language Learner (ELL) services for students in the Boston Public School system.
“Understanding English is a fundamental tool to succeed,’’ Jackson said in a statement. “Based on the 2015 Federal review, we now see that BPS has failed to provide adequate services to ELL students.’’
Boston is home to over 150,000 foreign-born people, according to the statement. Boston.com recently wrote about the city’s efforts to serve this substantial part of their community.
