Man Charged With Raping, Leaving Unconscious Victim in Cold

An Everett man is facing a charge of rape after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman following a neighborhood party.

Sami Sherif, 18, was arrested by Everett Police Friday afternoon.

The victim, 18, was found unresponsive around 6:45 a.m. Saturday, March 7 in the driveway of an Everett home. She was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was treated for “severe hypothermia,’’ according to a statement from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Though her condition was initially described as “extremely critical,’’ the victim recovered and was able to leave the hospital last week.

“Our thoughts are with the victim who continues to recover from this incident,’’ District Attorney Marian Ryan. “She apparently was assaulted in the aftermath of a party she attended in the neighborhood. Underage drinking was allegedly taking place at that party and the circumstances of that event are still being actively investigated.’’

Sherif’s bail was set at $1,540, which he posted. He’s scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Monday in Malden District Court.
