Marty Walsh Signs Executive Order Demanding Spring
After weeks of record-high snowfall, makeshift one-way streets and our MBTApocalypse, Mayor Marty Walsh has had just about enough of winter.
Not content to allow the mere tilt of the Earth to dictate the city’s season, Walsh rolled out an executive order last week letting Old Man Winter know where he could stick that 108.6 inches of snow.
Declaring Boston “sick of snowballs and beyond ready for baseballs’’ and noting “the sight of pavement’’ caused “unhealthy amounts of jubilation amongst the citizenry,’’ Walsh demanded that “the season of Spring appear and begin immediately.’’
Walsh spokesperson Laura Oggeri said the mayor signed the order as a “lighthearted gesture’’ to “official welcome, or demand, spring in Boston,’’ though it was not officially filed.
With no snow ahead for Boston in the 10-day forecast (knock on wood), it seems the weather is following the mayor’s order.
