A little after 8 a.m. Monday morning, the Tsarnaev jury spent a half an hour viewing the boat in which Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured on April 19, 2013.

The viewing took place under high security at an “undisclosed South Boston location’’ and involved the Massachusetts State Police, FBI, and U.S. Marshall’s office.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was present for the viewing, and sat, unshackled and flanked by his attorneys, at a table covered with a white tablecloth.

He watched, expressionless, as the jurors viewed the boat and Judge O’Toole spoke to the jury.

Bloodstains were visible inside the boat, as was the note left by Tsarnaev. While previous reports stated that the note had been written in pencil, pool reports stated that at least a portion of the writing was carved. (Read more about the note left by Tsarnaev here.)

The high security “field trip’’ involved only two members of the media – The Associated Press’ Denise Lavoie and WBUR’s David Boeri, who provided reports to dozens of other reporters back at Moakley Courthouse.

Jurors were able to view both the interior and exterior of the “Slipaway II,’’ which sat on a boat trailer with flat tires atop a flatbed.

To view the interior of the boat, jurors were lifted onto raised staging and a “little cage’’ on a forklift.
