Quincy Man Dies While in Police Custody
The death of a 34-year-old-man while in police custody in Quincy is under investigation, according to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.
Kevin T. Shaw of Quincy was arrested on Saturday evening for assault and battery after a confrontation with another man, according to the Norfolk DA’s Office. Officials said Shaw was injured during the confrontation, but that he refused medical treatment.
Shaw was found to be non-responsive during a cell check around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, according to the DA’s Office. Quincy police officers entered the cell and performed CPR until an ambulance arrived. The DA’s office said Shaw was transported to Quincy Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is expected today.
