Braintree Man Set to Be Arraigned for Celtics Game Stabbing

Brandon Jones, 20, of Braintree is expected to be arraigned today in Boston Municipal Court in connection with the stabbing that took place during Wednesday night’s Celtics game at the T.D. Garden, according to a statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office. Police arrested Jones in Braintree on Thursday afternoon, and he is facing a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Police responded to a report of a stabbing inside the Garden around 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday and found a man in his early 20s with what “appeared to be a stab wound.’’, according to a police statement. The man was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, with what police described as “non-life threatening injuries.’’

The stabbing took place in the arena’s balcony, according to initial reports. Deadspin posted a reader’s video Thursday morning that appears to show the confrontation that took place before the stabbing. According to Deadspin, the video was sent to them as an anonymous tip.

Update (Thursday, 3:30 p.m.): Brandon Jones, 20, of Braintree was arrested this afternoon in connection with last night’s stabbing, according to statement by the Boston Police Department. He will be arraigned on Friday in Boston Municipal Court.

Update (Thursday, 2:15 p.m.): Police have arrested a man in Braintree in connection to the stabbing, The Boston Globe reports. An official told The Globe the man is facing a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Update (Thursday, 9:30 a.m.): Deadspin has posted a reader’s video that appears to show the confrontation before the stabbing. According to Deadspin, the video was sent to them as an anonymous tip.

Police told Boston.com that surveillance video is being reviewed as part of their ongoing investigation.

Boston Police are investigating a stabbing that took place inside the TD Garden near the end of the Celtics 95-92 win over the Memphis Grizzlies at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to CBS Boston.

According to reports, a male victim was stabbed in the arena’s balcony, and the suspect was wearing a Rajon Rondo jersey.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mass. General Hospital, police told Fox 25 news. No arrest had been made as of 11 p.m. Wednesday.
