Pooch Hangs On Until Help Arrives

“A little help here, please.’’ Animal Rescue League of Boston

A dog who decided to go for a swim Tuesday afternoon at West Roxbury’s Millennium Park quickly had second thoughts.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Danielle Genter warms up the unfazed pup after the rescue.

The pup swam one length across an icy stream and then held onto an icy shelf until his rescuers – Boston Park Rangers, Boston Police and senior rescue technician Danielle Genter of the Animal Rescue League of Boston – arrived, according to the league.

Genter used a “catch-pole’’ to grab hold of the pooch and bring him to safety.

The dog, who was reunited with his owner, appeared to be doing well, the league said.
