One Dead in Dorchester Fire
One adult woman was killed in a 2-alarm fire in Dorchester on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Boston Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the two-family, wood-frame house at 83 Tonawanda Street at 2:40 p.m. According to the department’s Twitter account, the woman was found on the first floor and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Two firefighters were also injured, one with a cut to the neck and one with a leg injury. Five residents of the building were displaced as a result of the fire.
Fire officials estimated $300,000 in damage to the two-and-a-half-story building. It was the second fatal fire in Dorchester this year.
