Passenger Killed in Crash After Car Swerves to Avoid Snow
A passenger was killed in a New Bedford car crash Sunday after she was ejected from a vehicle that flipped over when the driver swerved to avoid snow in the road, police said.
Investigators said initial evidence suggests the 1998 Jeep Cherokee struck a guardrail on Route 18 North near Elm Street before rolling over.
Theresa Suprenant, 22, of New Bedford, died at the scene, according to authorities. The driver, a 19-year-old woman also from New Bedford, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries.
Police have not filed any charges against the driver.
