Bring Your Chairs Indoors: Space Savers Are Being Picked Up This Week
It’s time to use your chairs for sitting again: space-saver removal begins Monday, March 2, Mayor Marty Walsh announced.
“The city of Boston has seen an unprecedented amount of snow in the past month, impacting many aspects of our daily lives, including making parking difficult,’’ Walsh said in a statement. “If you spend hours digging out your parking space, you should have access to that space for a reasonable time period.’’
That “reasonable time period’’ has far exceeded the 48 hours the mayor has previously used as a guideline, but then the city has also seen an unreasonable amount of snow. Space-saver removal will start Monday as the Public Works Department collects your chairs, cones, buckets, and Elvis busts from the street as part of its regularly scheduled trash removal. Which means if your trash is collected on a Friday, you have well over a week of space saving left to do!
“I’m asking residents to remain respectful of their neighbors and their property as the process of space-saver removal begins,’’ Walsh added.
