An 18-year-old Hyde Park man was held without bail Thursday on charges he fatally shot a man shoveling snow on a Jamaica Plain sidewalk, according to the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office.

Josiah Zachery faces an additional charge of assault with a dangerous weapon after allegedly firing his gun at a police officer who chased after him in the moments following the shooting, authorities said.

Kenneth Lamour, 21, was shoveling snow with a local non-profit organization Wednesday on Centre Street when authorities said Zachery approached and shot him.

Authorities said they later found Zachery with his own snow shovel, claiming he had been helping his neighborhood clear snow all morning.

Police found a gun discarded in a backyard where Zachery was reportedly seen running away from police, according to authorities.

Zachery will be back in West Roxbury Municipal Court on March 12.
