1 Person Dead, 2 in Custody in Jamaica Plain Shooting
One person was killed in a shooting at 891 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain at about 10:35 a.m. Wednesday, Boston Police said in a statement. The victim, a man in his 20s, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, police said.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans holds a press conference with other police officials at the scene.
Two people are in police custody but at this point have not been charged with a crime, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans told reporters on the scene, according to The Boston Globe.
A police officer was also fired upon in the confrontation, but was not struck.
In the statement, police said the officer was on routine patrol when he heard gunshots; on the scene, Evans told reporters that the officer was aiding in snow removal efforts when he heard the gunfire.
According to Evans, when one of the suspects ran by the officer, he got out of his vehicle; the suspects then shot at him. The officer gave chase and, along with other officers, detained the two suspects, the commissioner said. The officers did not return fire at the suspects, police said.
Another person was undergoing medical examination at the scene, according to The Globe.

Police are now looking for at least one firearm.
“We are trying to piece together why this all took place in this location, which is a pretty quiet location,’’ Evans told reporters.
Lt. Michael McCarthy told Boston.com that the victim was “associated with’’ a van operated by Roca, a Chelsea-based organization whose “mission is to disrupt the cycle of incarceration and poverty by helping young people transform their lives,’’ according to its website.
A spokesman for Roca said that he cannot comment on the ongoing investigation, but said that the organization is fully cooperating with police, adding that they are “deeply saddened’’ by the incident.
The homicide unit is investigating the incident and asks anyone with information to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470.
