After Day Off, MBTA Rail Service Resumes

MBTA rail service will resume Wednesday. The Boston Globe

MBTA rail service will resume Wednesday on a modified schedule, and Boston Public Schools will reopen. The city’s parking ban will be lifted at 5 p.m. Wednesday as well, Mayor Marty Walsh announced in a Tuesday afternoon press conference.

All subways, trolleys, and commuter rail lines have been shut down since 7 p.m. Monday. The MBTA said Wednesday’s service will include about 70 percent of regularly scheduled commuter-rail trips. Green and Blue line trains will operate “with fewer cars and less frequent service,’’ and the level of service on the embattled Red and Orange lines will be determined later Tuesday. Commuter rail trains will not be stopping at Plymouth, TF Green, or Wickford Junction stations.

Busses will continue operating, but due to narrow, buried roads the MBTA said “delays and cancellations are likely.’’ View the modified train schedules here.
