Whole Foods Employee Struck, Killed by Plow in Medford

A Whole Foods employee was hit by a plow in Medford Monday afternoon and later died from his injuries at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Cesar Moya, 60, of Chelsea, was struck while walking in a parking lot outside the grocery store’s commercial bakery, which is not open to the public, at 300 Middlesex Ave. at about 1:30 p.m., authorities said. He had just gotten off work.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said Monday evening the crash remains under investigation.

“The circumstances surrounding what occurred are still being examined,’’ she said in a statement. “However, due to the unprecedented weather we are all experiencing, it bears saying that we all need to be mindful of public safety issues as we navigate sidewalks, parking lots, and roads.’’
