MBTA Boasts of 100K Twitter Followers At End of Hellish Week

The MBTA hit a major social-media milestone on Friday: 100,000 Twitter followers. And they took to Twitter to celebrate:

Enthusiastically thanking riders for following them and using their services, the MBTA didn’t seem to realize that those riders aren’t always following them for their riveting tweets.

The tone-deaf celebration sparked the ire of riders who, after last week’s smoke panic, faced a week of weather-related delays and cancellations Governor Charlie Baker deemed “unacceptable.’’

Fed-up followers took to Twitter to air their grievances.

Some got sassy:

Others basically pulled a “we’re disappointed in you’’:

It’s been a bad week, MBTA, but hey, at least it’s Friday.
