Police: Man With Knife Shot by Stoughton Officer
A knife-wielding man was shot by a Stoughton police officer Thursday afternoon, The Brockton Enterprise reports.
Police Chief Paul Shastany told the paper that the man — not yet publicly identified — attempted to attack the officer with a knife at about 12:30 p.m.
Fox 25 reports the shooting took place near Central Street and Buckley Road and that the officer was taken to Norwood Hospital with chest pains. His condition was not immediately known. The suspect was transported to Boston Medical Center with unknown injuries, according to the news station.
Shastany later told reporters at a press conference that the officer was assaulted and shot the suspect in the chest. The incident remains under investigation.
