Seekonk Police Seek Driver in Fatal Hit and Run
Seekonk Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle (and driver) involved in a hit and run that killed a pedestrian Friday night.
Just after 10 p.m., police responded to a call for an injured person on the 500 block of Arcade Avenue, roughly between Seekonk High School and Taunton Avenue. They discovered that a 51-year-old female pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle, which had fled the scene.
The woman, who has not been named, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police believe the vehicle traveled south on Arcade Avenue towards Taunton Avenue after the crash and likely has front end damage, possibly a broken headlight on the passenger’s side. No other identifying information about the vehicle was immediately available.
Anyone with information about the vehicle or the crash is asked to call Seekonk Police at 508-336-8123. Massachusetts State Police are assisting in the investigation.
