Body of Missing Swampscott Mom Identified
Human remains found on a Swampscott beach Wednesday morning were identified as missing Swampscott mother Jaimee Mendez, the Essex District Attorney’s office has confirmed.
A witness reported finding the body near two washed-up lobster traps on King’s Beach.
Authorities have yet to determine a cause of death, and the circumstances of her disappearance last November remain under investigation.
“We are relieved for Jaimee’s family that she has been located and identified. We will continue to work diligently to determine the circumstances of her death. Our thoughts are with the Mendez family during this difficult time,’’ Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett wrote in a statement.
Mendez’s sister Alyssa told the Boston Globe that the victim was last seen with a level 3 sex offender from Lynn. Police haven’t commented if the individual is a person or interest or suspect in their investigation.
Officials asked anyone with information to contact Swampscott police at 781-595-1111.
