Woburn Man Indicted on Child Pornography Charges
A Middlesex grand jury indicted a Woburn man Thursday with charges that he possessed, and intended to distribute, child pornography, according to a press release from Attorney General Maura Healey’s Office.
Marlan Ray Barker, age 55, was arrested on January 29, 2014 when Massachusetts State Police executed a search warrant at his residence. According to Healey’s office, police found “alleged depictions of child pornography.’’
In 2013, the Massachusetts Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force obtained information about a computer that was sharing child pornography over a file-sharing network. State police investigators tracked the computer system to Barker’s home in Woburn, according to the statement.
Investigators found that Barker’s computer contained “thousands of images and videos of children being sexually abused,’’ and that Barker was able to share the child pornography with others through a file-sharing program, according to the press release.
Barker will be arraigned in the Middlesex Superior Court, but the statement did not say when.
