The Boston Herald’s Matt Stout reports that a state police spokesperson confirmed that the call was related to a balloon filled with white powder outside of the state house.
“[It is] unclear what [the] powder is or if [it’s] hazardous,’’ he wrote.
The Boston Globe later reported that the substance was later identified as corn starch, though why it was in a balloon outside of the State House remains anybody’s guess.
