Governor Charlie Baker has canceled his two scheduled public events today due to an illness, his office announced this morning. The Governor missed Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s State of City address Tuesday night and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito said he’s taking a sick day.

Baker was scheduled to meet with Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr and House Minority Leader Bradley Jones this morning and join Walsh for a radio interview this evening.

Spokesman Tim Buckely told The Boston Globe last night that Baker is experiencing “flu-like symptoms.’’

Baker was sworn in last week, succeeding former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.
