Protesters at First Night Start With ‘Die-In’ in Copley Square
According to WHDH, protesters have began demonstrating in Copley Square, hours before the start of First Night festivities.
The group began gathering around 2:30 on and around the steps of Boston Public Library. After weighing requests from Mayor Marty Walsh and Boston Police Commissioner William Evans not to interrupt the evening for families, they decided to gather anyway.
Protester Brenden Larosa told WHDH that protests were “going to lead to change’’ but that protesters needed “to keep the pressure on the judicial system, law enforcement and we need to keep the pressure on Mayor Marty Walsh and Commissioner Evans.’’
