Alleged Bank Robbery Thwarted After Police Detail Goes Unnoticed by Suspect

A Worcester woman was arrested and charged with unarmed robbery Friday after failing to notice the police detail inside the bank she was allegedly attempting to rob.

Just before 3 p.m., Colleen Montalvo, 46, allegedly passed a threatening note to a teller at the Leominster Credit Union on West Boylston Street in Worcester. Montalvo demanded cash and began yelling at the teller to hurry up, police said.

Authorities said Montalvo took an undisclosed amount of money and was turning to flee when she was intercepted by a Worcester police sergeant working a detail inside the bank. Worcester police received a call to aid the sergeant in the arrest.
