Woman Injured in Elevator Shaft Sues Red Sox Owner, Elevator Company for Damages
The 22-year-old woman who fell two stories down an elevator shaft at Fenway Park is suing Fenway Sports Group, the parent company of the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park, and the elevator company.
Elisabeth Scotland of Brigantine, NJ, sued Fenway Sports Group and Otis Elevator Company of Farmington, CT, in Boston Superior Court on Wednesday.
The lawsuit states that Scotland fell when she brushed up against a closed elevator door in Fenway Park. She suffered a traumatic brain injury, spinal injuries, facial fractures, and dental damage. The suit seeks an unspecified amount in damages for the accident.
According to the AP,
A Red Sox spokesperson declined to comment on the accident, but said all Fenway Park elevators are safe and the team wishes Scotland well.
Messages were left Thursday for an Otis Elevator spokeswoman.
Fenway Sports Group is principally owned by John Henry, who also owns the parent company of Boston.com.
