About 400,000 Mass. Homes Lose Fox 25
About 400,000 Massachusetts homes with Verizon FiOS television service will miss out on at least some football this Thanksgiving, after Verizon and the owners of Fox 25 failed to reach an agreement over carriage fees during late night negotiations Wednesday.
The Boston Globe reports that both sides blame the other for the impasse, with Verizon pointing fingers at new Fox 25 owners Cox Media for requesting an “unreasonable’’ increase in fees after buying the station last month.
Cox representatives told the Globe they’re seeking a fair price for their programming.
Both sides continue to negotiate, but there’s no clear answer when customers will get the channel back.
Verizon said football-starved customers could call them for a one-time $5 credit on their account for a $4.99 per month subscription to their NFL Mobile app.
