3 Pedestrians Struck by Cars, 1 Killed, in Boston Area Wednesday Evening

A man was killed in Dorchester and two others were seriously injured in Somerville when they were hit by cars during an icy storm Wednesday evening.

A man who police believe was in his late 40s died from his injuries after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver, the Boston Globe reports. There was no further information about his identity immediately available.

Two Somerville residents were also struck by cars on the same stretch of Route 28 in just over an hour in the city, state police said.

Troopers first responded to a report of a woman hit by a car outside of Somerville District Court around 5:43 p.m., discovering a 29-year-old female with life-threatening injuries. The woman was transported to Mass General Hospital and no updates on her condition were immediately available.

At 6:50 p.m., a 20-year-old man was struck by a car about 200 yards North of the first collision as police continued to investigate. He was transported to Mass General with serious injuries.

All three crashes remain under investigation. No charges were filed Wednesday night.
