Car Carrier Goes Up in Flames on I-95 in Boxford

Loading a bunch of cars onto a truck and transporting them down the highway seems like a great idea until something like this happens.

A car carrier driving on I-95 in Boxford caught fire early Tuesday morning and, as you might expect, the cars didn’t fare so well. Boxford Fire Chief Kerry Stickney said six out of the 10 cars were totaled and the trailer is no longer usable. The tractor, somehow, made it out and is still drivable. The cars’ owner or owners will probably be relieved to know that.

The fire chief told Boston.com the rear brakes on the trailer likely started the fire and then spread to the cars. The driver got out safely and no one else was hurt, but there may be some strained necks as people drive by the scene during their morning commute.
