Woman Steals Car With Baby Inside, Gets Arrested in Roxbury

A baby was found safe Friday afternoon after the car it was riding in was stolen by a woman in Brockton.

The one-year-old infant’s mother drove into a Shaw’s parking lot before reportedly exiting the BMW sedan to go into the supermarket, leaving a female passenger alone with the child, reported The Brockton Enterprise. The passenger, identified as Kylee Andrade, 27, then allegedly drove off from the Belmont Street location with the child still inside the car.

Police launched a search for the vehicle and the baby, including an Amber Alert issued by Brockton Police. They ultimately found both in Roxbury, where Andrade was arrested by Boston Police at Dudley Street and Blue Hill Avenue, Fox25 reported.

According to WHDH, there was also a dog inside of the car at the time it was taken:

“We got a report from Brockton P.D of a car being stolen. Apparently the car, inside the car, was a 1-year-old infant and a dog. Once the car was stolen, we got a report from Brockton P.D, they notified us immediately. They gave as a great description of the vehicle and we were able to, our officers were able to locate the car, stop the car, make an arrest,’’ said a Boston Police official.

The dog was unharmed, and the infant was taken to Boston Medical Center as a precaution.

According to The Enterprise, Andrade told police she was going to the Westgate Mall in Brockton.

Andrade and the mother are friends, according to WCVB, though their relationship might have changed since the alleged theft and kidnapping. It is unclear why Andrade drove to Roxbury, which does not seem to be on the way to Westgate Mall.

A phone call to Brockton Police seeking additional information was not immediately returned.
