Missing Swampscott Woman Last Seen With ‘Known Sex Offender,’ Family Says
Jaimee Mendez has not been seen since Nov. 6.
Police are still searching for Jaimee Mendez of Swampscott after her family reported her missing late Saturday afternoon. The 25-year-old mother has not been seen since last Thursday.
The police departments of Swampscott, Lynn, and Salem, along with the Massachusetts State Police, the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, and the Essex County District Attorney’s office are all involved in the search, according to The Salem News.
Salem police found some of Mendez’s belongings — including an ID, cellphone, and jacket — near a Salem office park. Police later found Mendez’s sneakers in a dumpster outside a CVS in Lynn, along with fabric that matched the rug in the van of a man she was seen with recently.
According to her sister, Mendez was “worried’’ and “freaked out’’ about that man, who is being questioned by police. The Mendez family also says the man is a “known sex offender.’’ His name has not been released.
Mendez has Type 1 diabetes and cannot go without her medication, according to WCVB.
