MBTA Looking for Man Who Allegedly Took Phone of Train Victim

MBTA Transit Police

MBTA Transit Police are looking for a man who they say took the cell phone of the woman who was struck and killed by a train on Thursday.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, allegedly jumped in front of an oncoming Red Line train at Downtown Crossing, according to a witness on scene. The police and emergency response pronounced her dead on the scene. No foul play was suspected.

MBTA Transit Police said on Friday that during the incident, the woman’s cell phone “became dislodged upon impact,’’ landing on the platform. The man, pictured above, then put his foot on top of the phone on the train platform, police said.

After a few moments, he reached down to pick up the phone and walked away “casually,’’ according to the Transit Police.
