Logan Airport Briefly Placed on Alert As Arriving Plane Malfunctions

Logan Airport was briefly placed on level two alert Friday night after an arriving American Airlines flight reported a possible flap malfunction.

Airline spokesperson Andrea Huguely told Boston.com that the flight, American Airlines Flight 202 from Los Angeles, landed without incident around 9:30 p.m.

Pilots were given an expedited route to the runway and were able to taxi to a gate without assistance, she added. 153 people, including six crew members, were on-board.

“[Malfunctioning flaps] can make it a little more difficult for a pilot to land,’’ she said. “But all pilots are trained to deal with situations like this and the pilot had no issues.’’
