Indie Gubernatorial Candidate Scott Lively Rescues Woman Trapped in Car
Lawyer. Pastor. Coffee house owner. Gubernatorial candidate. Crimes against humanity civil trial defendent. Co-author of “The Pink Swastika.’’ Scott Lively is a man of many titles, and now he can add another label to his list: hero.
The independent candidate said he helped rescue a woman trapped in her overturned car after a car accident on Monday morning.
The accident happened on Springfield’s St. James Avenue, near the Big Y supermarket, Lively said. He was picking up church members for a Bible study session when he heard the crash.
“We all went running over there,’’ Lively told Boston.com. A car had rolled over and the driver inside was hanging upside down, still strapped to her safety belt. She did not appear to be seriously injured, Lively said. He estimates about 20 people were involved in the rescue.
“It was quite amazing,’’ Lively said. “It was a blessing to be able to be there.’’
The Springfield Police Department confirmed that there was a car accident in that area at that time, but could not verify whether or not Lively was there.
After a busy morning, Lively is heading to Worcester for Monday night’s gubernatorial debate. As the three independent candidates are not allowed to participate in the event, Lively will be outside, protesting his exclusion.
