Cambridge Man Allegedly Harassed Women, Assaulted Man at MBTA Station
A Cambridge man was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly kicking and punching another man at the Harvard Square MBTA station, according to Transit Police.
The episode started when Christopher Hicks, 26, reportedly harassed numerous women on the northbound Red Line train. Police say Hicks then focused his attention on a 30-year-old man, who tried to ignore his “boisterous conduct.’’
To no avail, apparently: When the man exited the train, Hicks allegedly kicked the back of his feet, causing him to lose his balance. The man asked Hicks to stop; police say Hicks then followed him for a short distance before suddenly punching him in the head.
The victim and a witness pointed Hicks, who was still in the station, out to police when they arrived. Police say Hicks was uncooperative and hostile towards officers and refused to tell them his name.
He was placed into custody and brought to Transit Police Headquarters for booking, where he allegedly also kicked a police officer.
Hicks was charged with assault and battery, as well as assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (his foot). He is expected to be arraigned in Cambridge District Court Friday.
