A 21-year-old student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst died in her dorm room over the weekend, university officials said. No foul play is suspected.

The student was identified as Chloe Malast of Needham, a member of Commonwealth Honors College, on Monday. Malast lived in McNamara Hall in the Sylvan Residential Area on campus.

David C. Vaillancourt, the Senior Associate Dean for Campus Life at UMass Amherst, announced the news in an email to students. “We extend our sincere condolences to Chloe’s family and friends and want to affirm our commitment to creating a caring community by offering these resources for students, faculty and staff,’’ he wrote, according to MassLive.
